On 4 March 2023, a debating team made up of three SEGi students and alumni finished in third place in the Executive College Debate Open, walking away with prize money of RM 1,000. The team, called Pewaris Madani, was comprised of SEGi Law students Priscilla Liew Chin (Bachelor of Laws), Habrie Hafeez Bin Zakaria (Diploma in Law) and SEGi alumni Samuel Desmond Tuah.
Team Captain and Coach stated “The Team was obviously disappointed not to be able to reach the Grand Finals but I am very proud that we were able to rally in the third place debate playoff. We basically change our speaker roles to allow for a more robust breakdown of our arguments after learning from adjudicators’ feedback in the semi-finals. We are very proud and would like to congratulate St Joseph on their championship”.
