SEGi College Kuala Lumpur Works in Support of Autism

In recent years, there has been a growing awareness of the importance of promoting diversity and inclusion in all aspects of society. This is particularly true in the field of education, where it is important to ensure that students of all backgrounds and abilities have access to the resources and support they need to succeed.

SEGi College Kuala Lumpur recently organised a talk on autism awareness for students in recognition of Autism Awareness Month under the stewardship of Ms Yeo Sue-Ann, a lecturer from the School of Education. The event was designed to promote an understanding and awareness of autism, and to provide students with the necessary tools and strategies for working with children with autism.

The talk was conducted by Ms Charlotte Leong, the Vice Principal of Aspire Inclusive Community and a passionate Special Education Needs (SEN) educator. She discussed the characteristics of autism, and the challenges that children with autism may face in the classroom and beyond. She also shared strategies for working with children with autism, including the use of visual aids, structured routines, and positive reinforcement. She emphasised the importance of creating a supportive and inclusive environment for all children.
