In an extraordinary event, SEGi University’s Faculty of Optometry and Vision Science (FOVS) partnered with the Rotary Club to launch the ‘Vision Eyes Project.’ This innovative initiative aimed to combat the rising issue of uncorrected refractive errors in school-aged children worldwide.
On December 3rd, 2023, at Khai Mun School in Bentong, Pahang, Malaysia, we conducted a vision screening event that made a lasting impact. A total of 87 individuals were screened, and we provided 30 pairs of corrective spectacles, addressing a critical need in our community.
Adding to the joy of Winter Solstice and Christmas, FOVS didn’t stop there! We shared the festive spirit by gifting wonderful surprises and goodie bags to the B40 communities.
Our dedication to promoting eye health aligns perfectly with our broader goal – ensuring that school-aged children with corrective errors receive the vision care they deserve. This initiative also corresponds with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG10), as FOVS is committed to offering Eye Care for ALL without discrimination, championing equality for everyone.
By focusing on the specific needs of children in Bentong, we contribute to global efforts to reduce the prevalence of uncorrected refractive errors, especially in underserved communities. Together, let’s reflect on this impactful event held from 8 am to 2 pm on December 3rd, 2023—a day where vision became a gift, and the spirit of community and compassion prevailed.
