SEGi Penang mobilised a group of students to help the state government with their annual senior citizens’ appreciation programme, officially known as ‘Penghargaan Warga Emas Negeri Pulau Pinang’.
Volunteers from the Students’ Representative Council (SRC) of SEGi Penang worked alongside government officers to ensure the smooth running of the programme by setting up registration counters and assisting with the registration of the elderly and disabled senior citizens on 13 and 14 April 2019.
The appreciation programme organised by the Penang State Government is aimed at recognising and honouring senior citizens who have contributed to the state’s growth in their own way.
Senior citizens above the age of 60 who are registered as voters in the state are qualified to receive RM100 as a token of appreciation for their contribution from the government.
