In a proactive initiative, the Bachelor of Dentistry Year 3 students of SEGi’s Faculty of Dentistry recently participated in the Colgate Oral Wellness Program. The primary objectives of the program were to introduce students to the Colgate Kit, motivate them to educate patients on the benefits of good oral hygiene, and familiarize them with caries prevention techniques.
The event commenced with an inspiring opening address by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Basuri Bin Faki, Deputy Dean of Clinical Affairs. Prof. Dr. Seow Liang Lin followed with an insightful lecture on “Delivering a Holistic Approach for Oral Wellness in Older Adults,” providing students with valuable perspectives in dental care.
Ms. Joanna, a representative from Colgate, engaged the students by providing essential information on clinical applications and introducing Colgate’s Digital Education Resources tailored for dental professionals.
After a well-deserved lunch break, the program continued with a hands-on demonstration of clinical applications for Duraphat Varnish and Sensitive Pro Relief Toothpaste. Students actively participated in practical sessions, applying their newfound knowledge on their clinical partners.
The day concluded with a post-clinical debriefing and discussion, emphasizing the significance of the skills acquired during the program. To commemorate the event, the Colgate team distributed Oral Wellness Kits to all participating students, providing them with essential tools for their dental journeys.
The interactive session not only enriched the students’ understanding of oral health but also empowered them with practical skills for their future clinical endeavors. Group photos captured the memorable day, marking a successful collaboration between SEGi’s Faculty of Dentistry and Colgate in fostering oral wellness education.
