SEGi University’s Faculty of Dentistry is pleased to announce the installation of a new CBCT machine, the Dentium Rainbow model, to replace the older Orthopantomogram (OPG) machine. In complex cases, the CBCT machine generates three-dimensional (3D) images of teeth, soft tissues, nerve pathways, and bone in a single scan, allowing for more precise treatment planning.
CBCT is a type of X-ray machine that is used when a standard dental X-ray is insufficient. Cone beam CT is used to evaluate diseases of the jaw, dentition, bony structures of the face, nasal cavity, and sinuses by providing detailed images of the bone. It is especially useful for surgical planning for impacted teeth, diagnosing temporomandibular joint disorder (TMJ), accurate placement of dental implants, detecting, measuring, and treating jaw tumours, determining bone structure and tooth orientation, cephalometric analysis, and reconstructive surgery.
