Four outstanding students from the BDS Year 2 program at SEGi University represented their institution at the International Dental Physiology Quiz (IDPQ) 2023. The formidable team included Cheng Xiao Xuan, Tan Jun Wei, Nur Ainaa Syazana binti Mohd Nordin, and Alya Farhahsharfa’ binti Adham Farshid.
The objectives of IDPQ 2023 were as noble as they were challenging. First and foremost, the event aimed to emphasize the relevant description of human physiology essential to the dental sciences. Beyond the academic sphere, IDPQ sought to provide a platform for future dentists to showcase and challenge their physiological knowledge. Moreover, it served as a unique opportunity for participants to connect with like-minded peers who share the same passion for dental sciences.
The SEGi Dental team, armed with their dedication and knowledge, navigated through the rigorous competition, reaching an impressive position. Advancing to the semi-final round, the SEGi dental team secured a commendable spot in the top 12 out of 32 participating teams, a testament to their exceptional understanding of dental physiology.
The event took place on the 9th of December, 2023, from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm, at the Balai Ungku Aziz Dental Faculty, University of Malaya. Hosted by the University Malaya Dental Society (DENSOC), the IDPQ 2023 not only provided a platform for academic excellence but also fostered camaraderie among future dental professionals. The SEGi University team’s achievement stands as a testament to their commitment to excellence in dental education and their ability to shine on the international stage.
