The Faculty of Dentistry fielded 5 student research projects in the poster presentation category and 1 staff project in the poster presentation for staff at the 18th Annual Scientific Meeting of the International Association for Dental Research, Malaysian Section 2019 (IADR MALSEC 2019) on the 30 March 2019.
The students competed with undergraduates, postgraduates and researchers from various fields. One of the students’ poster presentations entitled “Effects of pH of sports and energy drinks on demineralization of dental hard tissue: an in-vitro study” won the Alliance for Caries-free Future (ACFF) award for caries research in the undergraduate category with a cash prize of RM 200. The poster entitled “Bailout using brains – teaching and learning in dentistry through games” won the Colgate Award for the Best Overall Research Poster, which carried a cash prize of RM 500 and a Colgate Kit.
