Students Explore Bangkok’s Sustainable Urban Innovations

Thirteen students from SEGi University, accompanied by their subject lecturer Mr. Lee Chin Ching, embarked on an enriching urban field visit to Bangkok, Thailand. This meticulously planned itinerary provided a holistic understanding of urban dynamics while aligning with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities.

The journey commenced with an exploration of the vibrant Jodd Fairs Night Market, where students immersed themselves in the bustling atmosphere and diverse array of local goods. This experience illuminated the essence of urban commerce and community engagement, essential elements in fostering sustainable urban environments. The students’ interactions and observations at the market highlighted the importance of inclusive and sustainable economic growth in urban settings.

A significant highlight was the visit to ICONSIAM, Thailand’s premier shopping and entertainment destination. The students were captivated by the spectacular interior designs and innovative urban planning strategies employed in this bustling hub. This visit underscored the importance of integrating leisure and commerce while ensuring sustainability in urban infrastructure. ICONSIAM serves as a model for urban development that prioritises environmental sustainability and economic vitality, aligning with SDG 11.
