SEGi Salutes ACCA Achievers
Among the numerous outstanding ACCA students SEGi has produced is Lim Sei Haw, a student of SEGi College Kuala Lumpur who won the First Place for Paper 1.1 in ACCA in 2007. Lim says, “This prize does not come as a surprise to me but I am still very proud of what I have achieved today. I made the choice to do ACCA because, being an international paper, it’s more challenging. All the hard work and effort has paid off.” Another ACCA achiever, Leong Pei Chee, topped the Corporate and Business Law paper last year. Leong expressed her sincere appreciation for her lecturers who she said were dedicated and helpful. “My lecturers are one of the reasons I passed the exams with flying colours. It was tough work studying to pass the examination. I went through a lot of stress. It is trite knowledge that the ACCA exams are one of the toughest for professional accountants to achieve. I'm glad I managed to pull through and not give up hope when I felt it was too difficult,” said Leong. Woo Siong Wai emerged as the second overall best student in Malaysia in the ACCA 2005 examination. Woo echoed, saying “Having the best lecturers and hard work are the keys to excelling in the exam.” SEGi College has built a strong reputation of offering professional qualifications in Malaysia such as ACCA, CIMA (Chartered Institute of Management Accountants), CIM (Chartered Institute of Marketing) and LCCI. “For 30 years, we have coached thousands of aspiring professional accountants, marketers and company secretaries to be outstanding and ethical corporate employees. Many have gone on to rewarding careers and often looked upon the College as the foundation of their achievement, as they have gained their knowledge and invaluable learning experience here,” said Hew. Strategically located in Kuala Lumpur, SEGi College KL students have access to all the modern amenities of the city such as the Light Rail Transport (LRT), buses, shopping malls, banks, restaurants, tourist attractions, and entertainment spots. This makes it a favourite among young career-minded people, looking at upgrading their qualifications. “Our flexibility has made us a choice among working adults as well because we understand their learning needs. To date, we have more than 4,000 students studying full-time and part-time, with evening and weekend classes, flexible payment modes and exemptions for those with prior qualifications,” added Hew. Other than professional courses, SEGi Group of Colleges also offers academic based programmes of degree, diploma and foundation level. The Colleges have more than 100 programmes in its faculties of Business & Accountancy, Engineering & Information Technology, Creative Arts and Design, Education and Social Sciences, Nursing, Hotel Management and American Degree Program (ADP), to name a few. “SEGi’s 3+0 degree programmes and diploma programmes are recognised and approved by the National Accreditation Board (LAN) and the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE),” said Hew. SEGi College is the largest private education provider in Malaysia with a network of campuses located in Kota Damansara, Kuala Lumpur, Subang Jaya, Penang and Sarawak serving some 15,500 students.
